The topic of God’s love is truly an overwhelming subject to try and tackle in only one lesson. But we will begin by focusing on just one verse, John 3:16, and look at the seven qualities of God’s love found there.

1. God's love is UNCONDITIONAL. Read the first 6 words of John 3:16 KJV (For God so loved the world).
  a) Whom did God love so much that He was willing to sacrifice His only begotten Son?

  b)  God's love is based on our behavior or our attitude toward Him.

  c) Christianity uniquely claims God’s love comes free of charge, no strings attached.

  d) Is there any way to make God love us more or make God love us less?

Explain your answer by referring to another scripture. (Answers will vary.)

2. God's love is SACRIFICIAL. Read the next 3 words of John 3:16 (that He gave).
  a) Here we learn something important about the nature of true love. Sometimes people think they love someone because of how that person makes them feel, or what that person has done for them. God demonstrates that true love has nothing to do with what you can do for me. But it has everything to do with what?

  b) What was the end result of God’s sacrificial love?

3. God's love is VALUABLE. Read the next 2 words of John 3:16 (His only).
How many times have you heard or even said yourself: “I can’t give you that because it’s the ONLY one I’ve got.” Not only was God willing to give, but here we see that He was willing to give the only
  that He had.

4. God's love is PERSONAL. Read the next word of John 3:16 (Son).
  a) God’s love isn't just some abstract philosophy or theological doctrine. God’s love was made manifest in this world through the Person of
, the only Son of the Father.
  b) God’s love is personal because
It was manifest through a Person – Jesus Christ.
The sacrifice was made to cover the sins of each individual person.
    Both

5. God's love is ACCESSIBLE. Read the next 5 words of John 3:16 (that whosoever believeth in Him).

The really good news about God’s love is that it is not limited to a select few. It isn't just available to someone who was born with right color of skin or on the correct continent. What is the only criteria for accessing the love of God?

6. God's love is NONJUDGMENTAL. Read the next 3 words of John 3:16 (should not perish).
  a) Being judgmental means that one has a critical spirit that only looks for the bad in people and then is quick to condemn them when it is found. God on the other hand will judge us for our sins ONLY if we refuse to accept ...

  b) Jesus didn’t come into the world to _____ you. .
    He came to ____ you
  c) Jesus didn’t come into the world to _____ you.
    He came to ____ you
  d) Jesus didn’t come into the world to _____ you.
    He came to ____ you
  e) Jesus didn’t come into the world to _____ you.
    He came to ____ you

7. God's love is BENEFICIAL. Read the final words of John 3:16 (but have everlasting life).
Because of God’s love, each and every one of us can have ...
