The topic of God’s love is truly an overwhelming subject to try and tackle in only one lesson. But we will begin by focusing on just one verse, John 3:16, and look at the seven qualities of God’s love found there.
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
The Motivation:
Did you ever play the game "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" as a child? I did, and 50% of the time, the answer was not what I wanted to hear.
We don't have to pluck petals off a daisy to see if God really loves us. The Bible, our love letter from God, says that He loved the world so much that He gave His only Son for us (John 3:16), that we might live and have life more abundantly (John 10:10). It tells us that He has our names graven on the palm of His hand (Isaiah 49:16), and that we are the apple of His eye, protected under the shadow of His wings (Psalm 17:8).
Max Lucado once said, "God saved you because He likes you. He likes having you around. He thinks you are the best thing to come down the pike in quite a while. If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He’ll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart. And the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem? Face it, friend. He’s crazy about you! "
Do you remember passing notes in school, with the words, "Do you like me? Check 'Yes' or 'No'." Sometimes, our insecurities cause us to question if God really loves us. This video will set any such doubts or fears to rest.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, because You love me, You sent Your Son to die on the cross for my sins. Let my heart rejoice in the sure knowledge of Your love and let that love overflow from my heart to those You have called me to love.
